David Pruitt, MD — Contributing Investigator

David Pruitt, MD, is the Director of the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB).  He is Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics.  With Mark Riddle, he is co-principal investigator of the state’s Child and Adolescent Mental Health Institute.  Dr. Pruitt is a past president of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP 1997-1999) and serves as the Center’s primary link to organized child and adolescent psychiatry.  He co-leads the Operations Core Dissemination Component along with Dr. Foy, with a focus on how Center findings and activities can be linked with the child psychiatry community.  He along with Sharon Stephan, PhD, and Gloria Reeves, MD, are the main point of contact for University of Maryland, Baltimore activities as relates to the Center goals and potential student experience.  Dr. Pruitt is particularly interested in how to bring public health and system of care principles and practice together while protecting the core ingredients of the physician/patient relationship.
