Jonathan Brown, PhD, MHS — Contributing Investigator

Jonathan Brown, PhD, MHS, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Behavior, and Society at Hopkins.  His research focuses on the quality and outcomes of mental health and substance abuse services and improving the integration of care.  Dr. Brown collaborated with Drs. Wissow and Gadomski on their prior trial of mental health communication skills training for pediatric primary care providers, and he has also developed and evaluated similar trainings for medical assistants who work in pediatric primary care.  His other work has examined the strategies that state Medicaid agencies and health plans use to integrate and coordinate behavioral health and physical health care.  He is currently evaluating demonstration projects funded by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services that seek to provide more integrated care for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders.  He also contributes to the evaluation of the Maryland Behavioral Health in Pediatric Primary Care project and leads efforts to develop behavioral health quality measures for health plans and psychiatric hospitals.  He contributes to design, data analysis, and dissemination activities for all of the Center’s studies.
