Conferences at the Villa Spelman

Situated in the heart of historic Florence, Italy, the Villa Spelman is a wonderful venue to hold short conferences.  This opportunity is offered to all full-time Johns Hopkins University faculty from all disciplines.

The Villa is able to accommodate conference groups of up to thirty, providing lecture spaces, audiovisual equipment and catering as required.  Overnight accommodation is not available and organizers must book this separately, choosing from the many hotels and guest houses conveniently located close by.

The Villa is only available for conference use at certain times due to the undergraduate and graduate programs which run during the spring and fall semesters.  Availability is at its highest from June 25 until the end of July.  The Villa is closed for the whole of August. It is sometimes possible to run short weekend conferences during term time, although this will depend on the undergraduate timetables and our villa secretary’s agreement to work overtime (overtime will be funded by the conference organizers).

Due to the limited nature of Villa funds, organizers are responsible for all fundraising and expenses relating to conferences held at the Villa.

Interested parties are requested to download and complete our Conference Proposal Form and to return it to the Villa Spelman office for consideration.
