General Liability is defined as a third party liability arising from the everyday operations of the University. It covers damage stemming from bodily injury, property damage, and personal injury. In the event of an accident, please complete the Liability Form. In addition, please provide our office with the following information: For Third Party Property Claims: * Copy of Police/Security Report * Copy of Paid Invoice for the Repair of Replacement of Damaged Equipment * Copies of Purchase Orders and/or Invoices of Original Equipment * Copies of Purchase Orders and/or Invoices of Replacement For Bodily Injury Claims: * Copy of Police/Accident Report Property losses are those losses arising from damage or destruction of University equipment, buildings, or assets. The university maintains property insurance to cover losses to its buildings and contents resulting from all risks of physical damage including but not limited to fire, water, theft or a storm. Any department sustaining a loss should complete the Property Claim Form. In addition to the claim form we need to receive the following information: * Copy of Police/Security Report * Copies of Purchase Orders of Original Equipment * Purchase Orders of Replacements (replacements must be like-kind in value to the original value; no upgrades) * Copy of Invoice for Repaired Equipment * Rental Agreement between JHU and Vendor (if applicable) There is a $1,000 insurance deductible per occurrence for claims. The university’s insurance policy covers only university-owned property. The university maintains an automobile liability policy that provides coverage for bodily injury or property damage claims in connection with University employees operating university-owned vehicles. The university is self-insured for collision and comprehensive losses to its vehicles. All automobile accidents should be reported to the Security Office as soon as possible and an Automobile Accident Report must be completed and submitted to Risk Management. |
