Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity

SigEp can be summed up in one word: Diversity. One of the things that stand out the most about the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Johns Hopkins is that we can not be categorized. We do not fall under any one stereotype; instead we are from all over the country and from all walks of life. SigEp is also constantly looking for diverse, intelligent and responsible people who will help us to grow and be a bigger and better brotherhood.

SigEps at Johns Hopkins are easy going people. We are all deeply driven to be the best people we can be but we know the value of having fun. We enjoy lazy days spent at the house just as much as we enjoy football games in the snow. We all care deeply about one another but also do not hesitate to share our wry sense of humor. The best way to describe us is real to the core. We are real people who have real problems and real goals. We suffer real victories and real defeats.

In SigEp you can expect many things. You can expect true brotherhood. You can expect that you will not be hazed. You can expect the people here do not change toward you between rush, pledge period and when you are a brother. You can expect an extremely diverse group of people who are amazingly close as brothers in spite of their differences. You can expect people who are much more interested in what ideas you have and what stories you have to tell than how much beer you can drink in an hour. You can expect sincerity and a place that, no matter where you sleep, you can always call home. You can expect people that no matter what the situation will try their hardest to never let you down.

The last thing that I think should be mentioned is that if there is one thing that I have learned at Johns Hopkins is that life is about people. Life isn't about how much you study, or how much money you have or how successful you are, life is about the people that are around you in your life. Often times I have come home from a late night at the library feeling quite negative and just stepping into the house and sitting and talking to my brothers cheers me up enough to make it through another day. Like I say, life is all about people, so surround yourself with people who will be good to you. Come rush SigEp and check it out, I promise you, you won't be disappointed.

SigEps register teams for their Dorm Wars competition.
