COLA takes the utmost care in picking appropriate and qualified individuals/groups for the positions listed below. In order to be considered for these posts, one must be a Krieger School of Arts and Sciences or Whiting School of Engineering student currently taking at least 6 credit hours and holding a GPA of at least 2.0. Applications can be downloaded from this page in .doc format. Please note the position unique deadlines for each appointment and late applications will not be accepted.

Application Submission Guidelines: These applications must be submitted either as an attachment to cola@jhu.edu or submitted in paper form in a signed and sealed envelope to the "COLA" mailbox in the Mattin Center. Envelopes should also be denoted with the words "FOR COLA ONLY" to ensure privacy. Applications received in any other manner will not be accepted or considered.

COMMITTEE FOR STUDENT ELECTIONS
The Committee for Student Elections oversees all elections and referenda put to vote for the Homewood student body.  The committee comsists of seven members.  COLA chooses all seven committee members.  A chair is chosen by the seven selected committee members.  The Committee for Student Elections is advised by the Associate Dean of Students, Dr. Ralph Johnson. CURRICULUM COMMITTEE
The Curriculum Committee makes extremely valuable contributions in helping to select the classes that will be made available, the schedule of classes, and the array of majors and minors offered.  Each of the two schools have four faculty and four student members.  COLA chooses the eight student members.  Each committee is chaired by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs of each of the corresponding schools. ETHICS BOARD
The JHU Ethics Board is perhaps the most serious position we select. Ethics Board member are responsible to review the ethic values of actions done by fellow undergraduate students and decide their fate. More information on this can be found at www.jhu.edu/ethics  COLA selects all of the Ethics Board's members, including its chair.  The Ethics Board's membership is normally 12-14 persons.   The Ethics Board is advised by the Associate Dean of Student Life, Dorothy Sheppard.

HOPKINS ORGANIZATION FOR PROGRAMMING (HOP)
The HOP is charged with providing the Homewood campus with exciting, original and relaxing entertainment. The HOP can be contacted at HOP@jhu.edu COLA selects the HOP co-chairs annually.  Members of the HOP are chosen by the co-chairs.  No limit is placed on the number of members.  The HOP is advised by the Assistant Director of Levering Union, Rosa Hanco.

MILTON S. EISENHOWER SYMPOSIUM (MSE)
The MSE Symposium has a splendid history in bringing world famous guest speakers to the Homewood campus. Such speakers from the past range from former Presidential Candidate Gen. Wesley Clark to Political Pundit Ann Coulter.  COLA selects MSE's chair(s) annually.  Members of MSE are chosen by the co-chairs.  No limit is placed on the number of members.  MSE is advised by the Assistant to the Dean of Student Life, Dr. Bill Smedick. SECURITY COUNCIL
The Security Council is a 6 member board comprised entirely of students. COLA will make every effort to appoint as geographically and ideological diverse a group as is feasible. This council will be charged to interact with the faculty of JHU with regards to the formation of solutions to on and off campus security problems. At least one member of the council will also be responsible to report to the Student Council weekly.

SPRING FAIR
Spring Fair organizes a yearly weekend of fun! Activities range from a Beer Garden to an 'amusment park' area and is highlighted by a final concert of high grandeur. Local food and crafts vendors flock to the Homewood campus for an opportunity provide the student body with great food and interesting items. COLA selects Spring Fair's co-chairs annually.  Members of Spring Fair are chosen by the co-chairs.  No limit is placed on the number of members.  Spring Fair is advised by the Director of Levering Union and Mattin Center Building Operations, Jane Rhyner.
