HSA AWARDS

The Homewood Student Affairs: Above and Beyond the Call of Duty Employee Recognition Award     This award was developed to acknowledge exceptional employee performance above and beyond what is expected.  The program was designed to promote superior performance and enhance employee morale while showcasing our employees’ fine talents and achievements to the entire Division. 

Eligibility:

Any employee of the Homewood Student Affairs Division can be nominated regardless of employment classification or grade.

The employee must have completed one (1) year of continuous employment at the time of nomination.

The nominated employee must be in good standing with the University and have satisfactory job performance.

Nominators must be currently employed by the Homewood Student Affairs Division (no length of employment requirement).

Nomination Criteria:

Employees should nominate a colleague for exceptional performance related to the following:

* Demonstrates extraordinary DEDICATION to the department, division or University.

* Commitment to personal or institutional EXCELLENCE.

 * Provides exceptional CUSTOMER SERVICE to members of the University community.

* Significant positive IMPACT on members of the University community.

* MOTIVATES and INSPIRES the people around them.

* Any other display of outstanding LEADERSHIP, PROFESSIONALISM OR INITIATIVE.

Nomination Process:

Nominations will be accepted throughout the year with the annual deadline being July 15th.

Nominations should be submitted to the HSA Human Resources Manager, Alicia Grogan, 38 Garland Hall. 

The official nomination form can be obtained from any selection committee member.

Employees may NOT self-nominate.

There can be only one (1) nominator per form.

(Nominations from groups of employees or entire departments will not be accepted).

Selection Process:

The selection committee will consist of HSA employees from various departments who volunteer for the task.  The selection committee members will rotate and serve once per year.  The Chair is a non-voting member unless in a tie-break situation.  For 2007, the selection committee members are:

·    Nikki Balding, Admissions

·    Paul Jacobus, Athletics & Recreation

·    Sarah Lloyd, Housing & Dining

·    Rudy Martinez, Residential Life

·    Tom McDermott, Student Financial Services

·    Josephine Pearse, Registrar

·    Dale Phelan, Admissions

·    Alicia Grogan, HR Manager & Chair (non-voting)

Awards:

There will be one (1) First Place Winner who will receive:

·          A monetary award of $500.00 (less all applicable taxes and deductions)

·          A personalized desktop award

·          Acknowledgment in The JHU Gazette

·          Certificate of recognition

There will be up to three (3) Honorable Mention winners who will receive:

·          A 5”x7” desktop framed print

·          Acknowledgment in The JHU Gazette

·          Certificate of recognition

* All nominees will receive a commemorative certificate of appreciation.

* All winners must be employed by HSA on the recognition date in order to receive their award(s).

Additional Information:

* The First Place award winner is not eligible to be nominated the proceeding year.       

* Members of the selection committee are excluded from nominating a colleague and are also excluded from being nominated during the year in which they serve.

* The names of the nominators will NOT be publicly announced at the awards ceremony, but the nominee will receive an individual letter of congratulations.
