Greek Senior Leadership & Campus Activities Award (Male and Female)
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the senior who has given most selflessly of his/her time to campus activities, his/her fraternity/sorority, the Greek community, and/or the Hopkins community with emphasis on leadership. Applicants must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Listing of leadership positions and accolades within the Chapter and/or the Greek community
  • Listing of memberships and leadership positions in campus organizations (may include athletics)
  • Listing of participation in community activities
  • Maximum of three letters of support from chapter officers/members, fellow Greek students, faculty, staff, or chapter advisors.

Greek Senior Academic Excellence Award (Male and Female)
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the senior fraternity and sorority member who has demonstrated academic excellence. Applicants must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Signed letter from applicant granting permission to release grade point information for purpose of award selection
  • Listing of any scholarships received and the criteria for those scholarships
  • Listing and short description of any academic awards, distinctions, and/or research conducted
  • Maximum of three letters of support from those with specific knowledge of the academic work of the applicant

Greek Senior Athletic Excellence Award (Male and Female)
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the senior fraternity and sorority member who has excelled in athletics, either on a team or individually. This award is not limited to Hopkins intercollegiate athletics. Applicants must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Listing of any appropriate statistical information relative to the sport(s) played
  • Listing of any awards received from the team, Hopkins, and/or athletic conference
  • Listing of any leadership positions and/or activities as part of the team(s) and/or the Hopkins athletic department
  • Maximum of three letters of support from those with specific knowledge of the athletic achievement of the applicant

Outstanding Greek Junior (Female and Male)
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the junior fraternity and sorority member who excels in any of (but not limited to) the following areas: academics, athletics, campus activities, leadership, community service, and/or philanthropy. Consideration will be limited to activities and accolades during the nominee's junior year. Applicants must provide the following:

  • One page coverletter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Signed letter from applicant granting permission to release grade point information for purpose of award selection
  • Listing of campus activities and leadership positions held in those organizations
  • Listing of chapter leadership positions held and/or fraternity/sorority leadership workshops or conferences attended
  • Listing of community service and/or philanthropy projects participated in and any associated leadership roles
  • Maximum of three letters of support from chapter officers/members, fellow Greek students, faculty, staff, or chapter advisors.

Outstanding Greek Sophomore (Female and Male)
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the sophomore fraternity and sorority member who excels in any of (but not limited to) the following areas: academics, athletics, campus activities, leadership, community service, and/or philanthropy. Consideration will be limited to activities and accolades during the nominee's sophomore year. Applicants must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Signed letter from applicant granting permission to release grade point information for purpose of award selection
  • Listing of campus activities and leadership positions held in those organizations

Spirit of Panhellenic Award
sponsored by the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the member of a Panhellenic Council sorority who is the epitome of the "Panhellenic Spirit." The nominee may be a sophomore, junior, or senior. The award recipient will show that she goes above and beyond the call of duty to promote the ideals of inclusion of all chapters and chapter members. Applicants and/or nominators must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the chapter is deserving of the award
  • Individuals applying for this award must have supporting nomination letters from women representing two other Panhellenic sororities. A nomination letter from a JHU faculty member, staff member, or chapter advisor is also permitted.
  • Nomination letters should demonstrate why the nominee is deserving of the award based on the context of the author's relationship with the nominee

Spirit of Fraternity Award
sponsored by the Inter-Fraternity Council

This award recognizes the member of an Inter-Fraternity Council fraternity who has taken the lead in solidifying a cohesive bond between all fraternities on campus. The nominee may be a sophomore, junior, or senior. The award recipient will show that he goes above and beyond the call of duty to promote the ideals of inclusion of all chapters and chapter members. Applicants and/or nominators must provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, fraternity/sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Individuals applying for this award must have supporting nomination letters from men representing two other Inter-Fraternity Council chapters. A nomination letter from a JHU faculty member, staff member, or chapter advisor is also permitted.
  • Nomination letters should demonstrate why the nominee is deserving of the award based on the context of the author's relationship with the nominee

Greek Woman of the Year
sponsored by the Office of Greek Life

This award recognizes the most outstanding individual female member of the Greek community. Information encompassing the totality of the individual's undergraduate career will be considered in determining the recipient of this award. Information regarding, but not limited to, the following items will be considered:

  • One page cover letter stating the applicant's name, sorority, and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Listing of leadership involvement in campus activities and/or athletics
  • Listing of leadership involvement in the Greek community
  • Listing of leadership involvement in the greater Hopkins/Baltimore communities
  • Listing of academic achievement (i.e GPA, scholarships, academic awards, distinctions, and/or research conducted)
  • Personal statements from students, advisors, faculty, staff, and/or community members

Greek Man of the Year
sponsored by the Office of Greek Life

This award recognizes the most outstanding individual male member of the Greek community. Excellence in Community Service & Philanthropy Award (Fraternity and Sorority)
sponsored by the Office of Greek Life

This award recognizes the men's and women's chapter that demonstrates the greatest committment to the ideal of service to others often expressed in fraternity and sorority ritual. Applicants will provide the following:

  • Description of each community service project undertaken by the chapter in the past year, the number of members participating in each project, and the total number of "member hours" (# members X # hours) contributed toward each project
  • Listing of service projects and/or volunteer activities of each individual member independent of chapter-related service activities
  • Description of each philanthropy project, the benefiting organization, and evidence (i.e. canceled check, letter of thanks, newspaper stories, etc) that the donation was actually received by the organization
  • Chapter policies, bylaws, or incentive programs designed to encourage members to participate in community service and/or philanthropy events, either on their own or with the chapter

Outstanding Greek Spirit Award
sponsored by the Panhellenic Council

This award recognizes the chapter, fraternity or sorority, that promotes the Greek community through its programming, cooperation with other Greek organizations, and enthusiasm of its members. Applicants will provide the following:

  • One page cover letter stating the fraternity or sorority applying and short narrative of why the applicant is deserving of the award
  • Description of activities and programs the chapter has hosted in the current year and information about the participation of other Greek organizations in the activities
  • Description of activities hosted by other Greek organizations in which the chapter has participated during the current year
  • Letter of support and/or nomination from other Greek organization leaders with anecdotal evidence as to why the chapter is deserving of the award

Highest Chapter Grade Point Average (Fraternity & Sorority)
sponsored by the Office of Greek Life

This award recognizes that chapter, fraternity and sorority, that achieved the highest grade point average for the last two reported semesters (Spring 2005 and Fall 2005). No application necessary; grades calculated by the Office of Greek Life.

Most Improved Grade Point Average (Fraternity & Sorority)
sponsored by the Office of Greek Life

This award recognizes the chapter, fraternity and sorority, improving their chapter grade average the most over the past academic year. Improvement must have been made each semester (fall to fall and spring to spring) with the chapter with the most significant improvement earning the award. No application necessary; grade calculated by the Office of Greek Life.
