The Student Activities Commission offers funding grants throughout the year for additional items not awarded during annual budgeting. Only SAC affiliated groups are eligible for these grants (Cultural, Performing Arts, Publications and Journals, Religious and Spiritual, and Special Interest and Hobby). These proposals should be for specific items or programs related to a new initiative or an unforeseen cost. These grants are not the same as an annual budget, and do not fall under the "cap" structure. The deadlines for the proposals are 11:59 p.m. on September 30, October 31, November 30, January 31, February 28 and March 31.

For example,
Food- $150 for cookies and $100 for punch from Aramark to be served at our event for 50 guests
Independent Contractor- $200 for social justice advocate, John Smith, to speak at our event
Printing & Copies - $35 for a copy card from the Mattin Center to make flyers for our event
The categories are as follows:
1. Food (religious and cultural tastings, must be essential to the event for non-cultural/ religious groups)
2. Independent Contractors (guest judges, sound and lighting, graphic or web- designers, etc.)
3. JHU Professional Services (audio/visual, plant operations, grounds services, security, etc.)
4. Non-JHU Professional Services (contracted speakers, honoraria, performers, etc.)
5. Non-Reusable Items (paper goods, name tags, royalties, etc.)
6. Printing & Copies (includes bound publications, newsprint copies, copy cards and copy services)
7. Registration Fees (conferences, competitions, performances, etc.)
8. Reusable Items (general office supplies, purchased equipment, etc.)
9. Travel (vans, fuel, air, train, buses, etc.)
10. Wages (instructors, musical accompaniment, directors, coaches, etc.)


Please make a copy of your proposal before you click 'Submit'. Once you have successfully submitted your grant proposal, you will receive an email confirmation from the SAC. If you do not receive this email, please resubmit. If the problem persists, you may email your proposal to johnshopkinssac@gmail.com. The SAC student board will review your proposal during the first week of each month, and let you know if you have been granted funding.
