Sports Clubs

Brazilian Jujitsu
Be part of the fastest growing, most effective martial art, Brazilian Jujitsu. The club will promote realistic self-defense knowledge, improved fitness level, increased self-confidence, continuous stress relief, consistent mental focus, increased flexibility, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. We train everything live and have personal attention for each student so that everybody can see how the moves learned work in a realistic situation.

Capoeira
Be part of a Braziliam martial art that combines dance, acrobatics, and music with fighting techniques. The capoeira club at Hopkins is focused in bringing a venue to practice and build a capoeira community on the Hopkins campus.

Cycling
Hopkins Cycling is a bicycling club open to all students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the Johns Hopkins University interested in any aspect of cycling, whether it be racing, touring, or recreational riding. Our members enjoy all forms of cycling.

Field Hockey
Our goal is to provide a means for playing field hockey on a competitive level that is less strenuous than commitments of a Varsity team. All level

Golf
The JHU Golf Team provides a venue for golf enthusiasts in the Johns Hopkins Community to come together and play in a non-competitive atmosphere at local golf courses in and around Baltimore. Undergraduate, Graduate and Faculty players of all skill levels are encouraged to participate in the weekly outings which occur in September, early October, late March, April and May.

Ice Hockey
The Johns Hopkins Club Ice Hockey Team is a group of undergraduate and graduate students who pursue their passion for ice hockey on a competitive college level. As members of the Mason Dixon League in Atlantic Division of the ACHA, the team practices twice weekly and schedules about twenty games per season.

Kung Fu
The Kung Fu Club trains Hopkins students and faculty in the art of Wing Chun Kung Fu, primarily as a means of practical self-defense and secondly as an art. This particularly rare style of Kung Fu was uses a systematic approach to fighting, and was the basis of Bruce Lee’s fighting method. Since the essential elements of combat can be utilized after training a short amount of time, it is an ideal self-defense system to be taught in the university setting.

Men’s Lacrosse
The Johns Hopkins Men’s Club Lacrosse team is an organization for people of all skill levels of lacrosse. While we do compete in the National Collegiate Lacrosse League, the team is also about developing lacrosse skills and having fun while enjoying the sport.

Men’s Soccer
Men’s Club Soccer offers a chance for students to continue playing competitive soccer without the time commitment of varsity. We play against other colleges and participate in tournaments during the fall, and play indoor soccer during the winter.

Men’s Ultimate Frisbee
Looking to become part of a new and exciting intercollegiate sport? Come check out Ultimate Frisbee - a team sport like no other - and meet a whole community that you never knew existed. There are over 350 competitive college ultimate frisbee teams in the nation. Want to see what all the fuss is about? No experience necessary.

Men’s Volleyball
The Johns Hopkins Men’s Club Volleyball Team is composed of men of all ages who want to play volleyball at a highly competitive level. The club participates in regular league play, as well as tournaments, with regional schools leading up to the College Club National Tournament. All experience levels are welcome in the club; the only requirement is that members have a willingness to commit to the team and to improve volleyball skills.

Olympic Taekwondo
Hopkins Olympic Tae Kwon Do (HOT) is a recently established Tae Kwon Do club that has met tremendous success. Our world renowned instructors have shaped HOT into a club that is both physically and mentally challenging, yet rewarding and fun. Come join our free classes at any time, beginners are always welcome. Be a part of the #1 ranked collegiate Tae Kwon Do program in the United States!

Rugby
The Johns Hopkins Rugby Football Club is an assembly of upstanding collegiate gentlemen intent on enriching their minds, bodies, and souls while simultaneously inspiring and elevating all those who surround them. For nearly three decades Hopkins Rugby has vigorously competed in the Potomac Rugby Union and we strongly urge all Hopkins men with the passion and interest in Rugby to join our club.

Ski and Snowboard
The Ski and Snowboard Club take frequent trips to local ski resorts throughout the winter season. The club is open to skiers and snowboarders of all levels and abilities, and in the future we hope to expand to include teams and competitions.Soo Bahk Do

Soo Bahk Do
Moo Duk Kwan is a blend of Korean and Chinese martial arts styles that offers a balance of both hard and soft techniques in a formidable self defense and art form. As a classical martial art, its purpose is to develop every aspect of the self, integrating and strengthening body, mind, and spirit. No prior martial arts experience is necessary.

Softball
Women’s Club Softball is the only softball team on campus and is an organization for those interested in playing women’s fast-pitch softball. Our goal is to provide opportunity for students to enjoy the sport in the fellowship of other softball players and to cultivate a strong sense of team spirit.

Table Tennis
The table tennis club at Hopkins is focused on team competition and camaraderie. Our club competes in the Mid-Atlantic Division of the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association with other universities throughout the year, aiming ultimately for the Championships held in early spring. In addition, the club provides tournament-caliber equipment, coaching, and opportunity to participate in 4-star tournaments in the region.

Taekwondo
The Johns Hopkins Taekwondo Club is the oldest martial art on campus. While being entirely student run, the club trains under Grandmaster Tae Sun Kang in traditional Taekwondo techniques and sparring. We are one of the most active clubs on campus, drawing members from all levels of experience. We focus on Taekwondo as a complete martial art, both as a sport and as a practical method of self-defense.

Tennis
The tennis club promotes the sport of tennis to the Hopkins community. The club serves as a means for Hopkins tennis players to network, enjoy structured play, and compete against other universities in the area and nationally.

Women’s Lacrosse
The Women’s Club Lacrosse Team is active during both the Fall and Spring semesters, playing games against college club teams from the area. We welcome players of all experience levels, including girls who have never picked up a stick. Our goal is to have fun while improving our skills and knowledge of the game.

Women’s Soccer
The Women’s Club Soccer Team was formed for players interested in playing competitive soccer on a regular basis, but not able to commit the time necessary to play Varsity soccer. Our goal is to play soccer in a relaxed, fun environment while continuing to develop and improve our individual and team soccer skills.

Women’s Ultimate Frisbee
The Women’s Ultimate Frisbee team provides the women of Johns Hopkins with a team that they can have fun with while learning the skills needed to play ultimate Frisbee. We strive to teach one another and develop our skills while having a great time doing so. During the spring we aim to play more competitively.

Women’s Volleyball
This club is open to all undergraduate women with some competitive experience. We practice once or twice a week and play local and area collegiate club teams in tournament. This club is competitive but also welcomes ladies who just want to play.

GRO Karate
The Johns Hopkins University Karate Club, founded in 1976, offers instruction in traditional Japanese Karate.  We focus on basic techniques, forms, and controlled sparring.  As members of the International Shotokan Karate Federation, we are always welcome at nearby clubs in Baltimore and Randallstown.  All members of the Hopkins community are welcome and invited to join the club at any time.  No experience is necessary, competition and rank testing are optional.  Look us up at http://karate.acm.jhu.edu.
