Before you make the decision to reapply, it is important to discuss the issues that contributed to the results of your previous application with Dr. Verrier. Prior to your appointment, please consider the following questions:. • Was your MCAT competitive and received in a timely way? • Were your cumulative GPA and science GPA competitive; if not, have you taken a significant amount of coursework to supplement your previous application? • Have you continued patient-related experiences to demonstrate your passion for a career in healthcare and dedication to service? If you have decided to reapply for admission to health professions school for entry in the fall of 2010, the timing of your application submission will depend on in which of the following categories you belong: 1) You were an applicant in the 2009 cycle and you are not on any waitlists: In this case, you are best advised to reapply as early as possible in the 2010 application cycle (i.e., as close to June 1, 2009, as possible). 2) You were an applicant in the 2009 application cycle and you ARE on one or more waitlists: In this case, you may be considering delaying your reapplication until later in the summer in case you receive an acceptance. 3) You were an applicant in an application cycle prior to 2010: In this case, you are best advised to apply as early as possible in the 2010 application cycle.
Due to the importance of applying early, it is strongly recommended that all reapplicants apply no later than July 15, 2009. It has been our experience that applicants who submit their application materials later in the application cycle are not competitive for acceptance to health professions schools. THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR REAPPLICANTS TO SUBMIT THEIR MATERIALS IS AUGUST 28, 2009. • Complete the Health Professions Committee Application (even if you have previously gone through the Committee process) • Update your resume to facilitate filling in the “Work and Activities” section of the AMCAS application and to request a new recommendation. • Write a new personal statement.
