Medical School Linkages

If students wish to accelerate their enrollment in medical school, skipping the glide year altogether, there are options to do so via “linkage” arrangements with several outstanding medical schools.  A linkage program saves a year, enables students to avoid the pressures and expenses of the medical school application process, and provides "peace of mind" knowing that a place is reserved for them in the medical school of their choice.  Information about schools participating in this special program is available at the following links:

These schools have agreed to give special consideration to Hopkins post-bac students for direct enrollment after finishing the requirements of the post-bac program. In order to be eligible for admission, students must complete all premedical requirements by the end of the spring semester, take the MCAT in May (with the exception of Brown and Rochester), maintain a very strong academic record, be selected to interview, and be admitted by the school's admissions committee. Students may not apply to more than one school, and if admitted they will be expected to attend and not apply elsewhere. Students who are interested in a linkage program will meet individually with the Director for advising to be sure they are making the right decision.

The decision about whether or not to pursue a linkage option can be complex.  Many students wish to take advantage of opportunities in the glide year which may enrich their personal experiences and make them more compelling medical school applicants.  The Director will guide each student through this complicated decision, providing expert advice and counsel.
