Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program

The Glide Year

The year between completing the program and entering medical school is known as the glide year. During this time, post-bac students submit applications to medical schools for admission. The Post-Baccalaureate Premedical Program will also assist students in finding ways to use the glide year productively to enhance their preparation for medical school, whether it be through employment opportunities, additional courses, volunteer work, research, or graduate studies. Paid or volunteer positions may be available at Johns Hopkins Hospital, other local hospitals, the School of Public Health, service organizations, and research positions throughout the nation. Many students continue to work with the faculty sponsors of their medical tutorials at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine through the glide year.
