Faculty: Bernard Guyer and Nan Astone of the School of Public Health Department of Population, Family and Reproductive Health Description: Bernard Guyer and Nan Astone led a one-day conference on the ‘Consequences of Birth Weight’ on 15 June 2006. The aim of the conference is to illuminate some of the incongruities among researchers on the consequences of low birth weight for socioeconomic outcomes. The conference brought together leaders in the field to present and discuss divergent views, including: Dalton Conley, Marie McCormick, Jere Behrman, Jeanne Brooks-Gunn, and Janet DiPietro. Research questions identified were the basis for a cross disciplinary R21 research proposals to NIH submitted by Nan Astone and others.
