Profile: For a long time I've been interested in the literature of the sublime in all its forms (see The End of the Line: Essays on Psychoanalysis and the Sublime [Columbia UP, 1985], and George Eliot's Pulse [Stanford UP, 2003]). More recently I've been teaching classes on urban literature and on the history of photography. I plan to continue thinking about these matters after I retire in June 2005. Curriculum Vitae |
