LIVING NEAR YOUR WORKPLACE NOW MAKES EVEN MORE FINANCIAL SENSE

Down payment and settlement costs are one of the biggest barriers to homeownership, especially for first-time home buyers.

Since 1997, Johns Hopkins has teamed with Baltimore City and the state of Maryland offering grants to assist eligible employees with down payment and/or closing costs, who choose to purchase homes in designated neighborhoods near the Homewood, East Baltimore, Peabody and Bayview campuses.

To date, the Johns Hopkins Live Near Your Work program has awarded well over 300 grants.

Thanks in part to a major grant from The Rouse Company Foundation, in August 2008 Johns Hopkins expanded the program to offer grants of up to $17,000 for down payment and closing costs.
