Welcome to Live Near Your Work
Living Near Your Workplace Now Makes Even More Financial Sense
Down payment and settlement costs are one of the biggest barriers to homeownership, especially for first-time home buyers.
Since 1997, Johns Hopkins has teamed with Baltimore City and the state of Maryland offering grants to assist eligible employees with down payment and/or closing costs, who choose to purchase homes in designated neighborhoods near the Homewood, East Baltimore, Peabody and Bayview campuses.
To date, the Johns Hopkins Live Near Your Work program has awarded well over 300 grants.
For the past five years, The Rouse Company Foundation's sponsorship of grants in the A, B, and C target areas has contributed significantly to a thriving Live Near Your Work program. This partnership will come to an end on June 30, 2014. The final year of partnership brings even higher grant amounts. Specifically, the grants in the A target areas have been raised from $17,000 to $27,000 (A1: Homewood footprint) and $36,000 (A2: East Baltimore footprint) effective immediately and while funds last. All other grant amounts will remain the same.
The Live Near Your Work program is being re-evaluated, and plans for the program beginning July1, 2014 are forthcoming.
Please note, grants vary by location and restrictions apply. Additional assistance may be available from other sources.
