
In keeping with Johns Hopkins University’s mission of demonstrating smart, sensible, and creative actions promoting sustainability and community strengthening, the Johns Hopkins University, in partnership with the United Way of Central Maryland, is proud to announce “JH-U-Turn.”JH-U-Turn is designed to help reduce waste and support a great cause by asking students to donate their end of school year items including clothing, furniture, books, electronics and household items and offer these items a second chance by selling them to benefit the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund and the United Way of Central Maryland.

ATTENTION JHU STUDENTS: - Collection will begin in mid May and will run through the end of May.
- Donations may be placed inside specially marked boxes in every dorm, both on and off campus.
- Large items, or items donated by faculty or staff, can be brought directly to the outdoor ABF Relo-Cubes that will be placed strategically in and around campus on assigned days.
- Students who live off campus can make an appointment with Carrie Bennett, via email, to have items picked up from their residence.
- All students are encouraged to volunteer to help with this effort. Again, please email Carrie Bennett to sign up.
ATTENTION SMART SHOPPERS: - All goods donated will get a second chance when they are sold at bargain basement prices at our JH-U-Turn sale on June 9th, 2012, 8am until gone!
- Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund providing grants to non-profits that operate in the communities surrounding Johns Hopkins campuses and to the United Way of Central Maryland.
- The sale is free and open to the public. Limited free parking will be available.

MORE INFORMATION ON VOLUNTEERING: This worthy project and event cannot happen without the support of many, many volunteers. - Student volunteers are needed from the beginning of May until move out to help with the collection boxes and storage.
- Faculty, staff and especially community volunteers will be needed from late May right up to the day of the sale to help sort, check, clean and organize the donated items.
- Volunteers are also needed on June 9th to help run the sale.
- Anyone who volunteers for a mimium of 5 hours prior to the event will receive "early-bird" access to the sale on June 9th. Any volunteer who would like to purchase items may do so ONLY at this time.
