CLE Description
The Center for Leadership Education (CLE) houses two popular academic programs:  the W.P. Carey Program in Entrepreneurship & Management and the Professional Communication Program.

While CLE is part of the School of Engineering, all courses and programs offered through the Center are open to any Hopkins undergrad on the Homewood campus, which includes the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and the Whiting School of Engineering. Our courses and programs are also open to students from Hopkins’ Peabody Conservatory in downtown Baltimore.

The highly popular Carey Program can lead to a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management.  This program offers a broad variety of business-related courses in management, finance and accounting, business law and ethics, leadership, entrepreneurship, marketing, and operations. Students can apply these courses towards the minor requirements or they can simply take courses as electives.

At this point, only undergraduate students are able to complete requirements and receive a minor in Entrepreneurship & Management; however, some graduate students may be eligible to take one or two E&M courses upon permission of their departmental advisor.

The Professional Communication Program offers students the opportunity to hone their oral and written communication skills.  These elective courses are invaluable in helping students with the critical communication skills they need to be successful in their careers.  The small class size allows professors the unique opportunity to cater to the individual needs of each student.

Teaching and Learning

CLE faculty members come from diverse business and teaching backgrounds and share their experiences and expertise in the classroom to bring the subject matter to life.  Our passionate faculty share CLE’s mission to create leaders as well as lifelong learners.

The Center also allows students to explore their talents and gain real world experience while pursuing their undergraduate studies at Hopkins. CLE offers several innovative programs to help students gain a real world perspective through experiential learning.
