TOUR OF THE PEABODY LIBRARY

Monday, November 9th   at 11:00 A.M. (meet in the main lobby at 10:45 A.M.)

Location:  17 East Mount Vernon Place, Baltimore, MD  21202

Please join us and Curator Earle Havens for a tour of this historic library located in the heart of Mt. Vernon.  Earle will present a guided, behind the scenes tour of the library and discuss its important place in the larger story of the culture of Baltimore. In addition to sharing these stories, he will show us many treasures spanning 4500 years of human history-from ancient Babylon cuneiform tablets and medieval chain books all the way up to the first edition of Winnie the Pooh (and its special secret) and more.  R.S.V.P by clicking Contact.  See you there.Directions: I-95 to I-395 (downtown Baltimore). Turn right at the first light onto Conway Street. Follow to the second stoplight and turn left onto Charles Street.Continue for .6 miles. Bear right up the hill at the split and continue for one block. Turn right onto East Mt. Vernon Place. The front entrance to the George Peabody Library will be immediately to your right. If you wish to park in the Peabody Garage, continue one block and turn right onto Saint Paul Street. Turn right into the garage at the end of the block.

FALL COFFEE  AT THE EVERGREEN HOUSE MUSEUM

 Please join us for coffee and a conversation with curator, Jim Abbott, who will provide us with an update on the museums changes and planned events.  Particularly if you are new to the Johns Hopkins community, the fall coffee is a great way to meet Hopkins women from all corners of the university and health systems.   We will discuss our calendar for the year  and find out from you what events to plan as the academic year unfolds.

ANNUAL SPRING LUNCHEON AND TOUR OF THE ALAN MASON CHESNEY MEDICAL ARCHIVES
Location:  MT. WASHINGTON CONFERENCE CENTER OCTAGON HOUSE
Tea, scones and tea sandwiches will be served starting at 11:30 A.M.  at the Octagon House.  After the business meeting, those who are interested can take a tour of the Alan Chesney Medical Archives which is also located on the Mt. Washington  campus.  To support the ongoing BOOKS-2-GO project at the Barclay Elementary School, we will collect new children books.

SPANISH CLUB LUNCH MEETING  
Vamos a explorar!  You are invited to take a "trip" with the Spanish Club through the rich and varied world of Spanish and Latin American Cuisine.  The goal of the club is to provide an opportunity to learn about Spanish and Latin American cultures through the preparation and enjoyment of fabulous local cuisine.  Along the way, you will be exposed to new vocabulary while you prepare and enjoy the foods and stories of some of the world's most exciting cultures. We will begin our journey on February  7th in  Spain where we will learn to prepare a Paella with a spanish tortilla (a potato, egg and onion dish) with possibly some sangria to wash it down.   Future itineraries include stops to such savory destinations as Mexico, Argentina and the Caribbean.  We will also be exploring ways to assist Latin American immigrants within our community.

Please join us to hear Matthew Crenson, retired chairman of  the JHU Department of Political Science and frequent political commentator in the national media, discuss the latest news in the waning days of the national presidential campaign.  Spouses and Guests WELCOME!!
