Defining Moments One of the “common wards” in the early 1900s, The Johns Hopkins Hospital Women’s Ward G contained twelve beds on each side. Though ventilators under each bed provided fresh air and a multitude of windows allowed for plentiful sunlight, the ward afforded no running water and very little privacy.
