Dennis O'Shea is executive director of communications and public affairs at The Johns Hopkins University, responsible for external and internal communications.
He oversees media relations for the university's Homewood campus, where the university's administration; its schools of Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Education and Business; and other centers and institutes are located. He also oversees the university's marketing office, its alumni magazine, its internal weekly newspaper, its publications design office and related services. His office collaborates with the Johns Hopkins information technology group on the university's web presence and also oversees Theatre Hopkins. O'Shea joined Johns Hopkins in 1990 after nine years as a reporter and editor with United Press International. Previously, he was sports information director at Bucknell University. He graduated from Williams College in 1977 and earned a master of science in journalism in 1981 from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
