Thursday, May 23, 2013
- 7:15 a.m.: Gates open to Homewood Field
- 8:30 a.m.: All guests should be seated
- 8:40 a.m.: Procession begins
- All are invited to the President's Reception on Keyser Quadrangle, directly following the ceremony
Bachelors Degree candidates from Peabody, the School of Nursing, the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and the Whiting School of Engineering will assemble by 7:30 a.m. on Keyser Quadrangle. All other degree candidates will assemble by 7:40 a.m. in the Robert Scott Gymnasium and the Goldfarb Gymnasium. The procession will enter Homewood Field at 8:40 a.m. and the ceremony will conclude at approximately noon.
All bachelor, master’s and doctorate level candidates are invited to attend. All degrees will be conferred during this ceremony. All Nursing, Peabody, Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, and Whiting School of Engineering bachelors and all doctoral candidates will be called across the stage individually.
This university-wide combined ceremony will include the conferral of degrees (including those from earlier in the year), the awarding of honorary degrees, and greetings from University officials.
All bachelors will recess towards Keyser Quad following the ceremony where diplomas will be picked up in Gilman Hall. Graduate students can pick up diplomas in the Ralph O'Connor Recreation Center. Please contact the Registrar's Office with any questions.
Tickets are not required for admission. We expect a capacity crowd so guests are encouraged to arrive early.
The ceremony will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Guests should dress appropriately for the weather conditions; this includes rain and sun/heat.
For those guests for whom heat or other weather conditions are a health hazard, the commencement ceremony will be webcasted in Hodson Hall, Room 110 and in the Shriver Auditorium - these locations are indoors and air conditioned.

If it is determined that proceeding with the ceremony is not safe we may choose to delay, move indoors, or cancel. Please review our weather plans.
The influx of guests to campus, combined with morning rush-hour traffic, will create congestion around the Homewood campus. Guests are urged to allow extra time to reach campus. Parking on campus is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, please consider carpooling. Guests who will be staying in the city are encouraged to take a taxi cab.
On Thursday, May 23, there will be a morning shuttle to Homewood Field including a stop at the Mason circle and the Wyman surface lots between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. After the ceremony, a shuttle will transport guests to these two stops. Guests should also be aware that University Parkway will be closed on the eastbound side between San Martin Dr. and Canterbury Rd.

A limited number of wheel chair accessible parking spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis on the Lacrosse Hall of Fame parking lot entered from W. University Parkway. A state issued wheel chair accessible parking hangtag or license plate is required.
Passengers with disabilities, or those who may have difficulty walking across campus, may also consider being dropped off in front of Homewood Field at the Schelle Pavilion on W. University Parkway. See here for further information on event accessibility.
