University wide Commencement Ceremony
Thursday, May 21, 2015
Procession begins at 8:40 a.m.
Tickets are not required for admission.
We expect the ceremony to end around 12:00 noon.
Out of respect for the other graduates,
all graduates and their guests are expected to stay until the end.
The Johns Hopkins University is strongly committed to protecting the environment and practicing sustainability at all of our campuses. Once again, this year’s ceremony will be carbon neutral and zero waste. By using plant-based biodiesel to power the equipment on Homewood Field, we are avoiding fossil fuels and the associated impact on climate change. And since all waste will be composted or recycled, it will go to productive reuse instead of being incinerated. We are also highlighting our sustainability principles during Commencement in other ways: our program is printed on post-consumer recycled-content paper; our caterers are local and specialize in green practices; and most information is posted on the Internet to cut down on printed materials.
We also invite you to support our efforts to minimize waste and have as little impact on the planet as possible during Commencement by choosing a sustainable transportation found on the maps/parking page.
