Commencement 2015

Future Commencement Dates:

To our 2016 Graduates, Parents, and Families;

The 2016 universitywide Commencement ceremony will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at 4 p.m.

To ensure Commencement is enjoyable and memorable for all participants, university leaders have decided to move the annual celebration to Baltimore's Royal Farms Arena, a climate-controlled venue that still allows graduates to invite as many guests as they would like.

Green Statement

The Johns Hopkins University is strongly committed to protecting the environment and practicing sustainability at all of our campuses. Once again, this year's ceremony will be carbon neutral and zero waste. By using plant-based bio diesel to power the equipment on Homewood Field, we are avoiding fossil fuels and the associated impact on climate change. And since all waste will be composted or recycled, it will go to productive reuse instead of being incinerated. We are also highlighting our sustainability principles during Commencement in other ways: our program is printed on post-consumer recycled-content paper; our caterers are local and specialize in green practices; and most information is posted on the Internet to cut down on printed materials.

We also invite you to support our efforts to minimize waste and have as little impact on the planet as possible during Commencement by choosing a sustainable transportation found on the maps/parking page.
