Application and Guidelines
Completed PURA applications must include the following:
We have a new system for processing PURA applications. To enable your faculty sponsor to complete their form and submit their letter of recommendation on your behalf, you must create an account and fill in the portion of the application form that pertains to your faculty sponsor: Faculty Sponsor's Information. You can fill in just this portion of the application, if you are not yet ready to apply completely, as long as you save as you go. Your completion of the data triggers an email to your sponsor and they can then fill in their forms.
When saving your PDF file, please include your name in the file name.
Proposals should use Times New Roman, Arial, Helvetica, or Verdana fonts, size 11 or 12, and should not exceed 3 pages.
Proposals should include the following information:
What question or problem does the project address? What hypothesis, if any, is to be tested?
Why is this study or work important?
How do you plan to execute your project? What will be your methods and timetable?
What courses and other experience have prepared you to undertake this project?
What is the expected outcome?
What form will your final report/project take?
How will the funds be used and by whom? Are you requesting course credit or a stipend? Please detail the expenses you anticipate.
By whom will the project be evaluated and according to what criteria?
The work must represent the originality and creativity of the student.
