Jerome D. "Jerry" Schnydman

A native Baltimorean, Jerry Schnydman is the Executive Assistant to the President and Secretary of the Board of Trustees of The Johns Hopkins University.  In this capacity he advises the president, directs the university Office of the Board of Trustees and supports the Trustees in  their oversight capacity. Prior to that appointment, he served the Office of Alumni Relations as Executive Director from 1989 to 1998.  He served as Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Homewood for the Schools of Arts and Sciences and Engineering from 1978 to 1989. 
 
Jerry graduated from Johns Hopkins in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanistic Studies with a concentration in English Literature.  At his graduation, he received the Alexander K. Barton Cup, which annually recognizes a senior student of “strong character, high ideals and effective moral leadership.”   Outside the classroom, he was an outstanding lacrosse player.  He was co-captain of the University’s 1967 national championship team, and he was selected on two occasions, in 1966 and 1967, for lacrosse’s All American first team.  He is a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and a member of the Hall of Fame for the Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Lacrosse Foundation.  In the fall of 1998, he was inducted into the Johns Hopkins Athletic Hall of Fame, and in November of 1999, he was inducted into his high school alma mater’s Hall of Fame, the Baltimore City College High School.

Jerry has been active in the Baltimore community and serves as a member of the Board of Trustees and Selection Committee of the Goldseker Foundation of Maryland, Inc., as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Center, and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Beth El Synagogue where he serves on the Executive Committee.
 
Jerry and his wife of 41 years, Tammy, a special education teacher, have two grown children and 3 granddaughters and 1 grandson.
