Salem Reiner serves as director of community affairs for The Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins in 2001, Salem spent 15 years in the public, private and nonprofit sectors in the field of urban economic development and revitalization, managing initiatives to improve cities, downtowns, retail corridors and neighborhoods. Salem has prepared and implemented economic development and revitalization plans and programs, real estate projects, policy initiatives, economic analysis and market studies, grant and loan programs, has facilitated public-private partnerships, and has managed the delivery of several service programs. He received a B.A. in sociology from St. Lawrence University and a master’s of government administration with a concentration in urban economic development from the Fels Center of Government at the University of Pennsylvania.
