Melisa Lindamood

Melisa Marin Lindamood is a Director of Federal Affairs.  Now in her second year with Johns Hopkins Federal Affairs, Melisa serves as team leader for the federal affairs associates. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Melisa worked in local government as the legislative director for the Baltimore City Health Department for five years.

Melisa earned a master's degree in Policy Studies from The Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of San Francisco.

Issue areas include:  Research, nursing, appropriations, immigration, innovation

Maggie McIntosh headshot

Maggie McIntosh is a director of Federal Affairs.  Maggie has been an associate for Federal Relations for The Johns Hopkins University since 1992. Prior to her work with Johns Hopkins, she served as campaign manager and state director for U.S. Senator Barbara A. Mikulski.  For six years she was a grants analyst and community service planner for the Commission on Aging and Retirement Education.  She also worked as an instructor at Catonsville Community College and was an administrator and instructor in the Baltimore City Public Schools.

She has represented north Baltimore in the Maryland House of Delegates since 1992 and currently chairs the House Environmental Matters Committee.  Maggie earned a master's degree in Applied Behavioral Science from The Johns Hopkins University in 1987 and a bachelor's degree in Arts Education from Wichita State University.

Issue areas include: Higher education, K-12 education, NASA

Beth Felder

Beth Ann Felder is a Director of Federal Affairs.  Prior to joining Hopkins in August of 2004, Beth spent 12 years in the United States Senate; eight as Republican Chief Counsel to the Committee on the Budget (serving Chairman Pete Domenici and Chairman Don Nickles) and four in the Office of the Senate Parliamentarian.

Before working on the Hill, Beth served as a judicial law clerk in the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Maryland, in the Office of the Attorney General of Maryland and for the Department of Legislative Reference.  Beth graduated from the Villanova University School of Law with a Juris Doctor and was admitted to the practice of law in the states of New York and Maryland in 1991.  She also earned a bachelor's degree in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University.

Issue areas include:  Advocacy for the National Institutes of Health

Jeffrey Grossi headshot

Jeffrey Grossi is an Assistant Director for Federal Affairs.  Jeffrey has been working at Johns Hopkins since 2003.  He has served numerous roles relating to policy analysis and compliance on both the School of Medicine and Homewood campuses.  Jeff graduated from the University of Maryland, Baltimore with a Juris Doctor and was admitted to practice law in the state of Maryland in 2003.  He received his bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Maryland, College Park and attended Loyola Blakefield in Towson, Maryland.

Jessica Best 

Jessica Best is an Assistant Director of Government, Community, and Public Affairs.  Prior to joining Johns Hopkins in October 2006, Jessica worked at the Yale Office of Development as a special assistant to the vice president of development and coordinator of principal gifts.  Jessica received her bachelor's degree in History from Yale.

Issue areas include:  Patent reform and intellectual property

Chris Current headshot

Chris Current is the Assistant to the Director for Government Relations at the Applied Physics Laboratory.  He has been at APL almost 14 years and is the first full-time person at APL to formalize relations with both the federal Executive and Legislative branches.

Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Chris served in submarines in the Navy, was a program manger for several major DoD acquisitons, and was Navy Congressional Liasion for research and development matters.  He has a degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Colorado and a Master of Science from the Naval Postgraduate School.  He is also a graduate of the DoD program managers' course.

Courtney Wang

Courtney Wang is the administrative coordinator for Federal Affairs.  Prior to coming to the office of Government, Community and Public Affairs in October 2008, Courtney worked for the Risk Sciences and Public Policy Institute at the Bloomberg School of Public Health. Courtney graduated from The George Washington University with a B.A. in English in 2007 and is currently working on her M.A. in government at The Johns Hopkins University.
