
| Deidra N. Bishop serves as Director of East Baltimore Community Affairs for The Johns Hopkins Institutions. Bishop plans, directs, and executes comprehensive approaches to community issues in the neighborhoods surrounding the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions campus in East Baltimore. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Bishop served as Executive Assistant for transportation legislative affairs for the city of Baltimore's Department of Transportation. Her mission was to develop, monitor and implement legislative initiatives involving transportation. She also served as liaison between the department and the Baltimore City Council, the Maryland General Assembly and the U.S. Congress. Before returning to Baltimore City government in 2002, Bishop served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Elijah Cummings. She also has held positions with the Maryland Governor's Office of Children, Youth and Families, and with the Baltimore City Office of Employment Development. In the nonprofit arena, she has held management positions with the Maryland Committee for UNICEF and the United Way of Central Maryland. | Christine Kavanagh recently joined GCPA as the Community Affairs Coordinator for East Baltimore. She received both her Masters in Music and a post-graduate Performance Diploma in Opera from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins. She has experience working with the needs and issues relevant to non-profits and community organizations in a wide array of disciplines; such as the arts, education, animal protection, environmental advocacy, and legal research, and in her previous position as Senior Academic Program Coordinator for the Department of Geography and Environmental Engineering at Johns Hopkins, served as the Divisional Coordinator for the United Way Campaign. | Alisha Barnes is the Project Coordinator for Corporate and Community Services. She has acquired over 10 years of project coordination experience working with various private sector and governmental organization, such as the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Center for Medicare, Medicaid and Health Resources Service Administration. Alisha is expected to receive her B.S. in psychology in December 2008 from University of Maryland, University College, and currently has an A.A. in psychology as well as a certificate in clinical mental health care. |
