Digital Strategy
The Digital Strategy team is responsible for designing, enhancing, and updating Johns Hopkins university web properties, including the university’s flagship website, jhu.edu. The team is committed to building engaging, user-focused digital products that adhere to current web standards and enhance the Johns Hopkins University brand.
Staff
| Lauren Custer is director of digital strategy, responsible for the overall web presence of the Johns Hopkins University including content plans, SEO, mobile development and engagement strategies. Lauren brings extensive experience as a web designer and project manager. She has been a teaching Professor at Towson University, her alma mater, since 2005, instructing students in digital publication production, content management and audience engagement best practices. | Dave Alexander is the online editor in the Office of Communications, responsible for editorial oversight of Johns Hopkins University's news website, the Hub, and for content updates on jhu.edu. Dave brings more than eight years of experience in online journalism to the digital team, and he is committed to finding the best ways to tell the stories of Johns Hopkins online. Dave received his B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to coming to Johns Hopkins, he worked at The Baltimore Sun. |
| Jason Rhodes is the senior web developer in the Office of Communications. Jason previously worked for both the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins School of Arts and Sciences. ![]() | Gus Sentementes joined Johns Hopkins University in December 2012 as the audience engagement manager. He oversees the university's social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and other online channels, and works with staff to develop novel social media strategies. Prior to joining Johns Hopkins, Sentementes was a reporter with The Baltimore Sun, and an active blogger and social media practitioner. He holds a bachelors degree from Fairfield University and a masters degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. |

Before coming to Johns Hopkins University, she worked as a web developer at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and as a web designer/developer at The Baltimore Sun.
