Community Outreach
At the Johns Hopkins Montgomery County Campus, we pride ourselves for being
On the Ground • In and Of the Community
We live and breathe this mantra as we get out there and put our time and money back into the community we serve.
We are proud of our partnerships with local community organizations, including Interfaith Works, Montgomery County Public Schools, Gaithersburg Book Festival, Montgomery Coalition of Adult English Literacy, CrimeSolvers, Mental Health Association of Montgomery County, the Hispanic Business Foundation, and many, many more.
| Our K-12 outreach runs the gamut from Brownie troop visits in our wet lab and hands-on science experiences for seventh graders to high school student engineering and writing summer camps and an annual art show for high school students. | ||
| For the county’s retired and semi-retired professionals, we host Osher at JHU, a membership community that provides a vibrant educational and social environment and offers a rich array of stimulating non-credit courses, lectures, and activities, along with opportunities for social interaction during fall and spring semesters. | ||
| The campus supports a vibrant arts program that features eight rotating exhibits each year in two separate galleries. Past exhibits have featured artists from local high schools, Montgomery College, Leadership Montgomery, Osher at JHU, and the Hispanic community. Learn more about our Arts Program. | ||
| From June 29 – Nov 16, 2011, the campus hosted the weekly Shady Grove Farmers’ & Artisans’ Market. Stay tuned for details about the 2012 season. | ||
| JHU promotes the musical arts as well. We recently partnered with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for a series of three chamber music concerts, and we’re open to forging additional musical partnerships. Find out more about our Music Partnerships. |
