Applications Due December 15, 2009 - US Citizenship Required

The Summer Camp for Applied Language Exploration (SCALE) 2010 will be held from June 7 to August 13, 2010 at the HLTCOE offices near the campus of the Johns Hopkins University.

TOPIC:  All Source (Speech & Text) Knowledge Base Population

If you are:

            Innovative

            Research-oriented

            Interested in solving open-ended problems

Willing to accept a once-in-a-lifetime challenge

We welcome you to apply for participation in this unique annual summer program at the Human Language Technology Center of Excellence (HLTCOE) at the Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, Maryland, USA).

The openings are for top researchers - faculty at all levels, industrial researchers, post-docs, graduate students, and skilled undergraduates.  For highly qualified candidates, the salaries are competitive with the best summer positions with commercial companies, and the research environment is comparable to the best academic laboratories.  What is essential is the ability to do innovative research on challenging open-ended problems.  Furthermore, prior work in human language technology is not a requirement.

We are actively recruiting people from many fields to give us the fresh perspective needed to generate exceptional, innovative ideas.

This is a unique opportunity to

·  Complement and enhance academic year work

·  Attack  important long-term research problems  in computational learning

·  Contribute to projects with real-world impact

·  Work with a unique group of successful entrepreneurs, students, faculty, and researchers

Site:  As part of SCALE, you will live and work near the beautiful Johns Hopkins University campus.

Note: You will need special security clearances to participate, and we will facilitate that process as soon as you are accepted for the program.   US citizenship is required.

Interested? Please contact us at hltcoe-hiring@jhu.edu by December 15, 2009.

Once you are accepted to the program, we will invite you to planning meetings  and begin your security clearance process.
