Author Joy Hakim asked TDMG to write curriculum to accompany her new science series, The Story of Science.  The first volume in the series, Aristotle Leads the Way, covers astronomy, physics, and chemistry from Mesopotamia to the Middle Ages.  Newton at the Center explores the same subjects from Copernicus to the Curies, from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries. The curriculum is divided into units of nine lessons, and includes reading strategies to facilitate greater comprehension, timeline activities, and hands-on science experiments.  A time-traveling cartoon character, Professor Quest, appears in each lesson to summarize the main point. Cross-curricular links suggest additional activities in language arts, history, art, and other subjects. Several types of assessments and review lessons follow each unit. Both The Story of Science and the curriculum are published by Smithsonian Books.  Curriculum for Aristotle Leads the Way and Newton at the Center will be available in 2007.
