Curriculum

Curriculum is one of the key components of Talent Development High Schools.

Through courses developed especially for students who start high school performing below grade level, Talent Development works to give students the knowledge and skills they need to be successful at high-quality, demanding academic courses. Known as transition or acceleration classes, these courses concentrate on mathematics and English Language Arts, with a first-semester ninth-grade course, Freshman Seminar, for all students.

Students who need these transition courses take them in the first semester of grades, 9, 10 and 11, followed by their district’s required mathematics and English courses during the second semester. For those students requiring even more help, Talent Development has designed mathematics (ALTA) and reading (ALFA) labs that can be worked into the schedule.
